I would like to thank the person who stopped and picked up the two bicycles off the side of the road on Beiers Road near Arthur Schultz Road.
One was a white Mud Dawg with red flames and a sportex sticker on it. It is a Y-frame, dual-suspension, with chrome-coloured handlebars and 18 speeds.
The other is silver and chalky grey, has front suspension and no brakes, no shifter, and duct tape for handgrips.
My 10-year-old and his friend were riding their bikes and stopped because they saw something so cool they had to check it out.
They got off their bikes and laid them on the side of the road because that is what we can safely do here.
Between 5 and 6:17 p.m. someone picked up the bikes for them. The only problem is that they didn’t need the bikes picked up.
Yes, they got to walk home and now my 10-year-old is finding out how to make sure everyone in the neighbourhood knows what his bike looks like.
The Kilworthy Post Office knows how to reach us, so do many others in the neighbourhood.
He will get to tell his school, the elementary and high school in Gravenhurst as he has friends there also.
He also gets to put a report in with the OPP in case someone has called them to say they found them.
He has lived here all his 10 years, while I have been here a little over 20 years and his father almost 30 years.
I am sure that whoever picked them up would just like the chance to get them back here. I am sure they don’t need the bikes that much.
I will say one thing. My son is definitely learning a lesson. I hope it’s a good one.
